Research- Timber Frame buildings

I looked into timber frame buildings for the design of my model along with my own ideas. I really like the intricacy within these frames and how the negative space can be utilised for windows in a more interesting way that plain squares and rectangles.

These types of buildings can be seen in some places in central London such as the old department stores and pubs, but are also most popular in places like Scotland and Scandinavia.

These types of buildings date back to the 7th century yet arguably still have a place in today's cities. I really like how unique they look and how intricate the designs can be.

This is a more modern timber frame building, where the architects and builders have actually used the negative space for windows. This will be great research for my own model as the way it emits the internal lights and the complex design could work great in a futuristic city as well as a town of today.
